In 2006, I got engaged and began planning my wedding. I decided that it would be cheaper in the long run, to just make my own bridal jewelry. This decision turned into the addiction and thriving business that is Nightmaiden Designs.
I began with simple beading designs, as I had previously done jewelry design when I was in high school. So I tried to remember what I had done then and learn a better way to make quality pieces.
Once I got into the swing of things, Nightmaiden Designs was born. I chose the name Nightmaiden because I love the night and am a total nightowl and most of my best designs will come to me in the early hours of the morning. I wasn't yet married, so technically still a maiden.
After listing my first 5 pieces, overnight, 3 of those 5 sold. I was instantly hooked with such a feeling of accomplishment. I felt like I was worth something, the things that I created were enjoyed.
I expanded from beaded items to chainmaille and that lead to a new addiction. My themes have narrowed a bit to specializing in gothic and metaphysical designs. However, I will design whatever project my muse pops into my head. I don't want to hit a wall with only being known to do one style. I like to change things up and do what feels right and what people will love.
